Hello and welcome to the Ray McMurrey for US Senate 2008 Campaign! This campaign is about a renaissance in American democracy, and I invite you to join me in an effort to prove the American Dream still lives and that our Democracy is not for sale.

If you believe the American political system of government should rely more on expanding public participation, and less on the access and influence of private money- I am your candidate for US Senate.

I am running as a Democrat for the United States Senate:

• I want to bring clarity and unity as a problem solver on issues ranging from immigration to health care. The current political climate is dysfunctional and incapable of producing policy solutions. Texas can take the lead nation wide by sending an independent populist to the US Senate.
• I hope to restore integrity to the idea of public service by standing up for average Texans and working families.
• I hope to strengthen people's faith in American democracy by including more people in the election process, reforming election law and giving people greater hope that participation matters.
• I believe I will be the strongest voice for campaign finance reform, making elections a true expression of the public will.
• I want to expand the concept of American “representative-government” by ending the influence of lobbyists and special interests.

My desire is that Texans will join together as patriots in this election, and reject the buying of elections, and undermining of representative government. Partisan politics has reached a destructive and ineffective end. Help me retake our democracy- send an ordinary American to provide extraordinary leadership!

Texans have always been an independent and pragmatic people. I urge you to join me as patriots to stand up to a political culture of corruption, special interest and lobbyist. Texas can be the model of change for the country and I want to be your voice. I am calling you as Patrick Henry did – It is “Common Sense” for us to band together in this election.

Democrat and Republican voters are fed up with “politics as usual”. Texans are tired of the false choices offered by the two parties and are especially tired of the inability to solve problems. The voters have a real choice in this election.  It is time to put Texas first, not partisan politics.

As an educator, I want future generations to believe that legitimate government is based on the consent of the people. The current political climate has allowed corporations and special interest groups to write our laws. I will offer the leadership that Texans deserve, unfettered by private interest trying to buy our government.
